BRADLEY MULBERRY BINGHAM

Bradley Mulberry Bingham passed away on Thursday, the 20th of October 2022, at the age of 68. The youngest of three children, Brad was born in Charleston, South Carolina. Although he moved numerous times throughout his childhood, Brad cherished every summer spent at the family home on the shores of Portage Lake in Onekama, Michigan. After high school he attended the University of Texas, receiving a BA with honors in philosophy in 1975 and a JD in 1978. He then began his career as a civil defense attorney with the firm of Whittington, Pfeiffer and Vacek in Houston. He would go on to become a partner in the firms of Nelson & Bingham, Brown Sims and Philips & Akers. In 2006, he and his wife Lisa formed the firm of Bingham, Mann & House where Brad practiced until shortly before his death.
Brad was a gifted trial attorney who endeared himself to jurors throughout the state with his common sense and affable demeanor. He was board certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and as a civil trial advocacy specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBOTA). Brad was AVrated and a Life Fellow of the Houston Bar Foundation. Known in the legal community for his even temperament, courtesy and strong work ethic, Brad was fiercely loyal to his clients. He was also was extremely proud of the talented people who worked for him throughout the years and enjoyed mentoring countless young attorneys and paralegals.
In addition to his professional activities, Brad was a founding director of the
A.A. White Dispute Resolution Institute, a founding director and officer of Neighbors in Action, Inc. and of the National Ocean Access Project, Houston/Galveston Bay Chapter. He was also a founding member of Judicare, a Houston Bar Association organization devoted to providing legal services to the elderly.
Brad had a life-long passion for music and claimed to always have a song playing in his head. Whether strumming his guitar or blasting his latest playlist through the office, Brad orchestrated his life in an eclectic and beautiful way. He also had a great sense of humor and delighted in teasing everyone he encountered.
In his time off, Brad enjoyed travel, especially when it involved a foreign locale or a beautiful beach. He spent many contented hours sailing on Lake Michigan with family members. He loved to cook and entertain friends and family. He also reluctantly got involved in renovation projects, but was excited to show off the homes that he and his wife renovated and the office building they restored in the museum district. But some of Brad’s favorite times were simply spent walking through Hermann Park in Houston or admiring the sunset from the patio of his home in Santa Fe.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents Remster Alexander and Barbara Mulberry Bingham, his brother Remster Alexander Bingham, Jr., his sister Barbara Bingham Schlett, and his beloved pug Peanut. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lisa Mann, his son Austin Bingham and wife Maria Rodriguez, his son Alexis Bingham and wife Kelly Boyd, his daughter Katie Bingham and husband Shawn Blumberg, his son Bradley Bingham, Jr. and wife Sara Bingham, and his son Harrison Bingham and partner Lane Puckett. He is also survived by his grandchildren Olive, Rivers, Killian and Pearl Boyd-Bingham and Leo Blumberg.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family for a memorial service at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 14th of November 2022, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 5501
Main Street in Houston. A reception will follow. Memorial contributions in Brad’s honor may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the ACLU.
