BARBARA RANDOLPH

Barbara Hilburn Randolph passed on September 23rd, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Barbara was born on May

13, 1945 to Efford Haynes Hilburn and Annie Belle Hilburn in New Orleans,

LA. She lived in the Gentilly area of New Orleans all her childhood and attended John McDonough public schools. Barbara was an accomplished baton twirler and led countless Mardi Gras parades through The Quarter. After high school she attended Soule’ Business College.

In 1960 she met the love of her life, Bo, when his family moved into the house across the street from hers in New Orleans. As Bo would tell it, she was practicing her baton twirling in the front yard while wearing the shortest shorts he’d ever seen. Five years later they married, and Barbara moved to Baton Rouge where she was the secretary to the Dean of Men while Bo finished his degree at LSU. They had been married just over 55 years when Bo passed away in 2020.

Work brought them to Houston in 1966 where they both worked for Texaco. Eventually Barbara decided to stay home with her children while they were young. She was always proud of this decision even though she could have had a successful career outside the home. They built a beautiful home in Spring, TX where they lived for 42 years. Once both children where in school, she went to work for Klein ISD. She worked mostly at Klein Oak High School, but also worked a few years at the central office. They were members at First Baptist Church of Tomball where Barbara taught Sunday School for many years. Most recently, they were members at First Baptist Church of the Woodlands.

Barbara is survived by her son Todd of San Antonio, daughter Laurie and husband Todd Tidwell of Dallas, grandchildren Ryland, Leightyn, McKenna, Tagg, Beau and Wells, and her brother Ronald Hilburn of Arizona.

A private memorial service will be held with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association.
