OTHELDA “THEL” CURRY POARCH BREEDLOVE

Othelda “Thel” Curry Poarch Breedlove passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at her home and surrounded by her family.

Thel was born on February 22, 1931 in Colorado City, Texas to Otha E. and Lillie Maude Curry, the youngest of 7 children.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Thel drew strength from her relationship with God throughout her life. A member of Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas, she cultivated a community of loving dedication to Jesus Christ.

Thel was, first and foremost, a family oriented woman whose love for her children and grandchildren knew no limits. She was a devoted wife to Billy Sam Breedlove. For 25 years before Billy’s passing, the Breedlove’s enjoyed a relationship full of family, travel, friendship, and love.

Thel is survived by her five children and two stepdaughters: Don Poarch (Cindy); Kip Poarch (Sharie); Kim Wilson (Glenn); Carey Poarch (Fran); Terry Poarch; Marcie Blake (Larry); and Cindy Breedlove. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Lena Curry Haddock. She was blessed with 16 Grandchildren: Caroline; Cody; Glenn; Brooke; Krystal; Lance; Carey; Allison; Andy; Lucy; Kristina; Annie; Corbie; Carlie; Brandon; and Jared. Thel also enjoyed the love of 10 great-grandchildren: Marco; Emma; Ellis; Tristan; Eli; Abby; Ellie; Beau; Austin; and Nash.

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. She cherished each one. We were so fortunate to have been surrounded by her love and to have been inspired by her faith. She provided a foundation of grace and fellowship that will continue to guide her family and touch all of those lucky enough to have known her.

Visitation with family and friends will be held from

1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022 in the Chapel of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Dr., Houston, TX . Services will follow at 2:00 p.m.
