James (Jim) Richard Kolb, 81, died on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in Pearland, Texas. He was the middle child born to Elsie and Curtis Kolb in Ganado, Texas on

July 2, 1941. He enlisted in the Navy in 1958 and served nine years. Jim was a devoted husband, father, PaPa, uncle, and friend. On January 23, 1962, Jim married LaVerne Johnson and they were married in Frelsburg, Texas. They lived in San Diego, California until orders came to transfer to Keflavik, Iceland. Their daughter Pamela was born in Iceland. After returning to Deer Park, Texas their son Warren was born. James was a true outdoorsma­n who enjoyed fishing, duck, dove and deer hunting along with boating. One of James’ many talents was building boats, restoring hot rods and tractors. Jim and LaVerne enjoyed their time at their second homes in Port O’Connor and Fayettevil­le, Texas.

Jim started as a foreman with Reed Roller Bit and then became a salesman for Newcomer Products, Inc. for forty years. After retiring from Newcomer Products, Inc Jim became a manufactur­es representa­tive in the metal cutting tools industry. He enjoyed his career so much that he never considered it work. He finally retired in 2018 at age 78. Jim was an extremely generous person, and he will be missed tremendous­ly by those who knew and loved him.

Jim and LaVerne were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Frelsburg. Jim is survived by wife LaVerne of 60 years. Daughter Pamela Waycasy and husband Harry, son Warren Kolb and wife Monica. Granddaugh­ters Amber Price and husband Jerry, Emily Romo and husband Reid, Kate Kolb, and Caroline Kolb. Great granddaugh­ter River Romo, great grandson Ryatt Romo. Sister Linda Jones and husband Homer, and sisterin-law Betty Joyce Kolb, two nieces and one nephew. James was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth.

Services will be held on Wednesday November 16, 2022, at Forest Park East with a visitation at 10:00, followed by a service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
