VIRTUAL CLASSROOM
Students can take advantage of online learning options in Houston
the pandemic, some parents and students decided to move to online learning, and there are many opportunities for this in Houston. Each year improvements in technology and methods enhance the virtual classroom.
“Lone Star College launched its eighth campus, LSC-Online, in fall 2022 due to the huge demand for online learning,” said Seelpa Keshvala, Ph.D., executive vice chancellor, CEO LSCOnline. “This new campus offers more than 30 online programs and provides a guaranteed schedule that will allow students to earn their degree in two years. Areas of study include academic transfer degrees, business and professional services, computer/digital technology, energy, manufacturing and constructions, health sciences, and teaching.”
Keshvala said that all Lone Star College programs (face to face and online) are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate and baccalaureate degrees.
“It’s important for parents to not only look at the type of
curriculum that is being offered, but the studentsupport services as well,” said Keshvala.
LSC-Online students receive advising, tutoring, library services, and 24/7 technical support, as well as distinguished faculty who specialize in online teaching and learning.

Albe Zakes, director of corporate communications for Paper, talked about the company’s Educational Support Platform.
“It’s a virtual, on-demand tool that is available as an option for any school in Houston and across Texas,”
Zakes said. “Paper supports K-12 students with 1:1 virtual tutoring available in over
200 subject areas. Our tutors are highly qualified, background-checked instructors who provide multilingual educational support in English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin.”
Zakes said that Paper’s Educational Support Platform
also includes PaperLive — a free-streaming service with live weekly learning experiences similar to serialized TV shows, during which students are actively engaged by gamified storylines presented by interactive hosts.
“Paper also offers Career & College Support, because students take many different paths after high school. For students looking to go to college, Paper provides ACT/ SAT prep and gives students access to feedback from college admissions experts who will review their personal essays,” said Zakes. “For students heading into the workforce, Paper’s instructors will review their cover letters and resumes. All of this is available at no cost to students or their families; Paper partners directly with school districts.”
Paper’s service is approved by the Central Texas Purchasing Alliance and EPIC6. The Texas Education Agency’s (“TEA”) Vetted Texas Tutor Corps also approved Paper’s platform for meeting the research-based components of high-impact tutoring and supporting districts with implementation.
