Woman’s ex faces a murder charge in shooting death

A woman was killed Friday when her ex-boyfriend forced his way into her northwest Houston apartment and shot her, Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators said.

Deputies at 11:45 a.m. responded to a shooting in the 8500 block of Point Park, where they found 22-year-old Lashawn Grays dead, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. Javian Paley was charged with murder and booked into the Harris County Jail.

Paley, 28, is Grays' ex-boyfriend and the father of her 2-year-old daughter. He was located in the 400 block of Independence Parkway and taken into custody by Precinct 8 deputy constables, officials said.
