Indians pull off upset of Buffalos

Port Neches-Groves beat Fort Bend Marshall off of the line — and the usually speedier Buffalos never could close the gap. After handling PN-G with ease in September, they stumbled to a 29-21 setback Friday night in the Class 5A Division II Region III championship game at Galena Park ISD Stadium.

The upset also was the Indians’ first playoff win over Marshall (12-2) in four tries.

“You’ve got to give credit to their coaching staff and players,” Marshall coach James Williams said. “They did what they had to do to win the game.”
