Betty frequented Bethel Baptist Church where she gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 13. She attended New Caney High School where she was a majorette and was also voted “most beautiful” in her class. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Betty Lou married her soulmate, Aubrey Elza Monroe, on November 26th 1955 at Bethel Baptist in the church parsonage at the age of 15. Betty and Aubrey were deeply in love for 66 years, until his passing. Betty strived throughout her life to be a dedicated wife, mother, and Christian. She joined First Baptist Church of Porter at the age of 18 and maintained her walk in faith there for 64 years until her passing. Her years of service with Continental allowed her and Aubrey to travel the world and shed light on all the people they encountered. Her tenure on the Hog farm provided the grit and perseverance for keeping up with 2 children, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 3 greatgreat grandchildren. Betty’s purpose in life was exemplified through the Lord and her family. She never missed a sporting game, recital, graduation, wedding, birthday, or anything else involving her grandchildren through great-great grandchildren.

She attended church faithfully and taught Sunday school, training union, and vacation bible school. This salt of the earth woman was best known for being a devoted wife, loving mother, irreplaceable grandmother, integral matriarch, and steadfast Christian. Betty treated every person she met just as Christ would. There was not a person she knew whom she did not respect and love. Through her acceptance of Christ and dedication to the Lord, multitudes of family and friends have peace in knowing that she is smiling in heaven.
