Ella Virginia Williams Garrison, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to her heavenly home on December 1, 2022 after a 12year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Born to Lessie and Pearl Williams on January

13, 1932 in Garrison, Texas, Virginia was the youngest of three daughters. She resided in Rio Terra Senior Living in New Braunfels, Texas at the time of her passing.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Hunter; sister, Frances Williams McKinzie of Lufkin, Texas; and sister, John Charles Richardson of Garrison, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Garrison White and husband Jim of New Braunfels, Texas; her son, Michael Hunter Garrison and wife Toni of Allen, Texas and grandchildren, Kelsey Lynn Garrison and Connor James Garrison, both of Dallas, Texas.

Virginia met Hunter Franklin Garrison at age four and shared her childhood with him in Garrison, Texas. They married on March 13, 1955 and enjoyed nearly 56 years of a treasured marriage together in Houston, Texas until his passing in November 2010.

Graduating as Valedictorian of Garrison High School in 1949, Virginia went on to attend Stephen F. Austin State University. In 1952, she earned a BBA in Teaching Commercial Subjects with Minors in both Elementary Education and English. She started her career with Marathon Oil Company in Houston, Texas, where she worked for 12 years before becoming a stay-at-home mother for 15 years with Brenda and Mike.

When her children were older, she accepted a position at Bonham Elementary, teaching third grade. Her true passion was to share in the educational development of children, and she considered teaching as her most significant contribution in her working years. She was nominated for Houston Independent School District Teacher of the Year in 1994.

Virginia enjoyed volunteering with Brenda and Mike’s activities, including Girl and Boy Scouts, sports, and their other endeavors. She enjoyed the camaraderie with neighbors in the Braeburn Valley subdivision, her school coworkers, and her roommates from back in the early 1950s upon her arrival to Houston. She had a true heart of gold and loved to sew, crochet, cook, garden, and care for her pets.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rio Terra Senior Living, the staff of Hope Hospice, and the caretakers of Home Instead, who loved and cared for Virginia for many years. At Virginia’s request, the funeral will be a private family graveside service in Garrison, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Hope Hospice (611 N Walnut Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130), Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org), or your local humane society.
