FRANK HOWELL WHITE

04/11/1945 - 11/19/2022

-

Frank Howell White passed away on November 19, 2022. He was born to Gordon Edd and Annie Mae White on April 11, 1945, in Houston, TX. He grew up in Cleveland, TX, and graduated from Cleveland High School. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and was a Phi Kappa Psi fraternity member.

Howell was commissioned in the United States Air Force in 1967 and selected for pilot training. He served two combat tours in Vietnam, flying electronic countermeasure and reconnaissance missions in KC-135s for Strategic Air Command. He also was a flight instructor for the DC-3. After leaving active duty, Howell served as a member of the Texas Air National Guard. Howell worked in technical sales in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years.

Howell is survived by his daughter Margaret (Maggie) White of Houston, son Mitchell White of Dallas, and four-legged daughter Amelia of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mary Joe White. He is also survived by his former wife and good friend Sandee White of Austin.

There was nothing Howell couldn’t do: fly a plane, play the bassoon, chicken fry a steak, pontificate about the nature of the universe, and be a friend to anyone who had the good fortune to meet him. He was a force of nature. Howell was terribly loved and will be terribly missed.

To honor Howell’s memory, the family is holding a celebration of life on January 7. For more information, please email howellwhitememorial@gmail.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts are made to the Mary Joe White Scholarship Fund at giving.uth.edu/ memorial or:
