Areas in and around Houston are again seeing a flurry of new developments that have created plans to build homes in some of the fastest-growing communities.

The Houston Chronicle put together a list of this year’s coverage of neighborhoods where homes are going to be built in the upcoming years.

Katy

The Katy Independent School District is planning multiple new campuses to accommodate the growth along the northwest quadrant of the school district. New residential developments by Elyson plan to add approximately 6,000 singlefamily homes in a subdivision directly off FM 529, with 2,000 homes already sold, according to the developer.

Also, after years of delays, the new Katy Court development is moving forward. It will add 607 residential lots along Clay and the Katy Hockley cutoff.

Rosenberg

In its largest development project in Houston in 25 years, the development firm Hines is partnering with Trez Capital, Caravel Ventures and Sumitomo Forestry to develop a new master-planned community in Rosenberg.

Construction on the 2,400-home community is expected to begin this year, with the first phase of homes completed in 2024.

The community will be known as Brookewater and will be located off U.S. 59 at Klosterhoff and Finney Vallet, about 40 miles southwest of downtown Houston and 19 miles southwest of Sugar Land.

The Woodlands

Houston-based national apartment company Camden Property Trust announced that it is moving forward this year with plans to dive into the increasingly popular single-family, build-to-rent sector in the Houston area.

The company told investors in October that it broke ground on a 189home, single-family rental community called Camden Woodmill Creek in The Woodlands.

Montgomery

Montgomery officials expect the city’s population to double to 4,000 within five years, and Atlanta-based Pulte Homes has set plans to build a 309-home development called Montgomery Bend.

With the projected population boom, the city west of Lake Conroe is expecting 1,500 homes to be built within the next five years, according to officials.

Crosby

The Crosby Independent School District is expected to get an influx of 7,000-plus new homes and more than 10,000 new students, the district reported this year.

The new homes are expected to come after a study by the district that included projected housing developments, upcoming projects and an analysis of current students in the suburb northeast of Houston.

According to a report in November, there are 11 projected subdivisions coming to Crosby ISD.

Huffman

The Huffman Independent School District is projecting an influx of 6,000 new students over the next decade as the northeast corner of Harris County is facing growth that includes 12 new developments

One of those developments would bring 3,000 new homes, and another could bring 5,000, according to a December report.
