Williams leads Tech to blowout win over Jackson St.

D'Maurian Willams had 17 points, Kevin Obanor scored 16 and Texas Tech breezed to a 102-52 victory over Jackson State in the HBCU Roundball Classic on Saturday at Delmar Fieldhouse.

Obanor had four steals and sank 6 of 11 shots with three 3-pointers for the Red Raiders (8-2), who picked up their fourth straight win. Williams buried 5 of 7 shots from 3-point range.

Zach Edey had 29 points and 16 rebounds and Caleb Furst scored all 12 of his points in the second half to help the Boilermake­rs fend off the Wildcats in the Indy Classic in Indianapol­is.

The Boilermake­rs (11-0) are positioned to stay in the top spot for an unpreceden­ted second straight week. Purdue earned its first No. 1 ranking last December, then lost on a buzzer-beater at Rutgers and didn't return until this week.

NO. 9 ARIZONA 75 NO. 6 TENNESSEE 70

Azuolas Tubelis scored 19 points, Oumar Ballo added 18 and the Wildcats turned the physical tables on the Volunteers in Tucson, Ariz.

The Wildcats (10-1) did well to withstand the Vols' defensive pressure and applied a bit of their own in a game that saw bodies hitting the floor nearly every trip down the floor.

NO. 8 KANSAS 84 NO. 14 INDIANA 62

Gradey Dick scored 20 points to lead six Jayhawks in double figures scoring, Dajuan Harris Jr. added 10 points and 10 assists in a win over the Hoosiers in Lawrence, Kan.

Kevin McCullar Jr. had 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Jalen Wilson and KJ Adams scored 11 apiece, as the Jayhawks (10-1) beat their fellow college basketball blueblood for the seventh time in their last nine meetings.

NO. 15 GONZAGA 100 NO. 4 ALABAMA 90

Drew Timme matched his season-high with 29 points and the Bulldogs overcame Brandon Miller's 36-point outburst to the Crimson Tide in the C.M. Newton Classic in Birmingham, Ala.

Timme had 10 rebounds and four assists to help Gonzaga (9-3) cool off one of the nation's hottest teams.

NORTH CAROLINA 89 NO. 23 OHIO STATE 84 (OT)

Pete Nance made a jumper at the buzzer to force overtime, RJ Davis iced a much-needed victory for the scuffling Tar Heels with two late free throws, and the Tar Heels over the Buckeyes in the CBS Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Armando Bacot had 28 points and 15 rebounds for North Carolina (8-4).

MONTANA 81 PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 76

Josh Bannan scored 22 points as the Grizzlies beat the Panthers in Prairie View.

Bannan also added five rebounds for Montana (6-5). Aanen Moody scored 21 points.

RICE 110 NORTHWESTE­RN STATE 73

Quincy Olivari's 30 points led the Owls over the Demons at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Olivari added six rebounds for Rice (8-3). Max Fiedler scored 22 points while going 10 of 13 and 2 of 3 from the free throw line.

SAM HOUSTON 69 TEXAS STATE 62

Donte Powers had 18 points in the Bearkats' win over the Bobcats in San Marcos.

Powers was 6 of 11 shooting, including 5 for 8 from distance, and went 1 for 4 from the line for Sam Houston (9-2).

MEMPHIS 83 TEXAS A&M 79

Kendric Davis had 23 points — including a career-high 14 made free throws — and nine assists, DeAndre Williams scored all his 15 points in the second half and the Tigers beat the Aggies in Memphis.

Davis shot just 4 of 13 from the field but missed just 2 of 16 from the freethrow line and added three steals. Johnathan Lawson made 3 of 3 from behind the arc and finished with 10 points for Memphis (9-3).

NORTH CAROLINA A&T 67 TEXAS SOUTHERN 66 (OT)

Marcus Watson scored 24 points as the Aggies edged the Tigers at Chris Paul's HBCU Challenge in Las Vegas.

Watson also added 13 rebounds for North Carolina A&T (5-5). Kam Woods scored 18 points while shooting 7 for 20, including 2 for 10 from beyond the arc, and added six rebounds. Demetric Horton recorded 14 points and was 5 of 11 shooting.

WOMEN

NO. 21 ARKANSAS 83 NO. 16 CREIGHTON 75

Samara Spencer scored 26 points, Saylor Poffen-barger had a doubledoub­le and the Razorbacks beat the Bluejays in Omaha, Neb.

Rylee Langerman hit two 3-pointers as Arkansas drilled 3s on its last three possession­s for a 9-0 run to take a 37-33 lead at the half. They never trailed again.

ARIZONA STATE 82 PRAIRIE VIEW A&M 67

Treasure Hunt scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Sun Devils handed the Lady Panthers their fourth loss defeat in Tempe, Ariz.
