Katherine (Kitty) Cannon Haegelin went to be with her Lord and Savior unexpectedly on December 14, 2022. She was born in Kansas

City, Kansas to Frances and Delphen Cannon on May

19, 1935. Kitty is survived by her daughter, Greta Zimmerman and husband Chuck, son Joseph Cannon Haegelin and wife Diane, her beloved grandchildren, Robbie Zimmerman and wife Margaret of Ft Worth, TX, Kate Turpin and husband Luke of Fredericksburg, TX, and Nick Zimmerman, greatgrandchildren, Charlie and Louisa Zimmerman, Annie and Hal Turpin, brother, Robert Cannon and wife

Kitty attended Mount

Saint Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas where she met and then married the love of her life, Joe Haegelin. Together they finished their degrees at Kansas State University, Kitty completing a Bachelor of Business degree— then earning $1 per hour for her first job in 1956.

She was an enthusiastic supporter of Joe’s Texaco career, always putting a positive spin on moving to a new location and setting up homes around the world, including Lysekil, Sweden and Manorbier, Wales, U.K. eventually settling in Houston in 1985.

Kitty had a quick wit and an almost life long skill at bridge, which she began playing in college, enjoying the game until she died. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and church community. One of her greatest delights was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an incredible ability to find just the right book or toy for each of their interests.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge Kitty’s excellent medical care for over 30 years by Dr. Shirley Riggs, MD.

A private family memorial service will be held at St Michael Catholic Church, January 10, with interment at Houston National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers and for those desiring, memorial contributions may be directed to Shriners Children’s Hospital, Galveston Texas, or a charity of your choice.
