Monica was born August 25, 1930 in Mankato, MN to Reverend Albert Carl Klammer and Margaret (Wuerflein) Klammer, # 9 of 10 children. When very young her father took a pastoral call to a church in Frankenmuth, MI, where she spent her growing up years. She learned of Christ and His love for her early on and was trained lovingly to follow in His example. The beautiful influence she had on so many was far reaching, always with God’s glory in mind. In December of 1952, she married Louis P. “Joe” King in Houston, TX where they raised two sons and one daughter.

Monica was an elementary school teacher who was dedicated to what mattered most in life. Among her many interests outside of teaching were her church, art of all kinds, trees, rocks, birds, and taking many trips in retirement. She especially loved reading, including obituaries. She was kind, encouraging, and hard-working. Monica was beautiful – the love of Joe’s life. She was giving, sacrificing a lot. She was creative, ingenious, and patient. She was a born teacher and not just in the classroom. Monica was the glue that held her family together. She always had a smile on her face. She had a way of always looking for the good in things. Even into her old age, she had a contented and joyful attitude about life. She learned early on the secret to being content in any and every circumstance and for that, her family is truly grateful! She loved her one beautiful life!

Monica was preceded in death by Joe, her husband of 56 years.

Her survivors include sons, Martin King and Karen, Richard King and Terri; and daughter, Peggy (King) Hastings and Mark; grandchildren (spouses) include Sarah, William, Ryan (Catherine), Taylor (Niko), Bethany (Jeremy), Gretchen (Adam), Laura, Kimberly (Nathan); and great-grandchildren, Emery, Margot, and Samantha, and Isla.
