Katy’s Sunterra is site of GHBA Benefit home
Sunterra, a Crystal Lagoon community developed by Land Tejas in Katy, is the site for one of two homes being built for the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit Homes Project, a 42-year-old charity fundraiser. HistoryMaker Homes recently completed construction of their Hemlock Plan.
Each year two homes are built for the Benefit Homes Project with donated materials and services from GHBA member companies. The homes are sold at market value and the majority of the proceeds benefit HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home, two local charities. More than $12M has been raised.
Sunterra is a 1,039-acre masterplanned community in the Katy Independent School District and convenient to Katy area dining and shopping. There is also easy access to the Grand Parkway and I-10. Amenities will include a 3.5- acre Crystal Lagoon for kayaking, swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, or just relaxing on the white sandy beach, a trademark of several Land Tejas communities. There will also be an amenity village that will feature a clubhouse and pool that overlook the lagoon.
HistoryMaker’s Hemlock Plan is a 2,777 sq. ft. two-story design with three bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The home offers a media room and game room on the second floor, a downstairs master suite with walk-in closet, a dual vanity and a separate tub and shower. The floor plan is an open concept for entertaining and family gatherings, and the tall ceilings and box windows add to the spacious feeling. The home also includes a covered patio and large garage.
“We have worked closely with our vendors, trades and suppliers to make sure this home is constructed with as many donations as possible,” said Mickey Pizzitola, HistoryMaker division president. “It has been a rewarding experience to build this knowing that proceeds from the sale will go to two charities that make a difference in people’s lives. We can’t thank our construction partners enough for their support and for the lot donation by Land Tejas.”
Family owned and operated since 1949, HistoryMaker Homes launched in Dallas-Fort Worth and expanded over the decades to become a premier builder of more than 800 homes across the region in 16 developments.
