W.C. DUNCAN

01/09/1938 - 01/12/2023

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dad W.C. Duncan age 85 on January 12. He passed peacefully while surrounded by his family into the arms of his Lord and Savior as well as back into the arms of his wife of 60 years, Irene.

Dad was born in Dime Box, Tx. to the late Lee & Barbara Duncan. He spent his childhood in Cypress, Tx, graduating from Cy Fair HS in 1956. He went on to earn a degree in History with an emphasis in Journalism from U of H. He forever cheered his alma mater on in all sports. After graduation W.C. began working for Smith Industries, later working for Plycoflex, where he was able to travel the world, working there until the company closed in 1981. He then opened his own company, X-Cor International running it alongside his buddies Lynn Hill and Chic Hughes until his retirement.

My dad was the kindest, most gracious, and intelligent man who had incredible wit, and a true gift for writing. He loved all things family and worked hard to always provide the best for them. Dad traveled the world both for work and pleasure, he was an avid reader, cross word puzzle aficionado, and never missed an episode of Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, or Nature. He was a member of bowling leagues in Houston until retirement and then in Livingston after he and mom retired to their home on the lake in 2014.

W.C. is survived by his daughter; Lisa Johnson, sonin-law Sam. Granddaughters; Brittany (David), Kyndall (Dalan). Brother Doug, Sister Iris (Jerry), favorite cousin

Hazel, honorary daughter Cindy, along with numerous in laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of great friends. W.C. was preceded in death by his wife Irene, grandson Kolin Quin, and brother Roy.

Upon hearing of dad’s illness, we heard from so many friends from every stage of dad’s life. He was loved and respected by so many. The family appreciates everyone who reached out during the past few months; you all lifted him up through this trying time. We were truly honored to have called him Dad / Pops. We loved him beyond measure and will miss him greatly. A celebration of life will be held at Heights Funeral Home on Saturday, January 21.

Visitation will be at 10:00 with services immediately following at 11:00 at Heights Funeral Home with Pastor David Bauser officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery 1101 Antoine in Houston.
