He was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. His service included time at Lackland AFB and Elmendorf AFB. After being honorably discharged, he settled in the greater Houston area, where he spent the majority of his life. He built a career in risk management; starting with Highland Insurance and finally retiring from Navigators Insurance Services of Houston. He was most proud of his venture to co-found Petroleum Marine Insurance He is remembered for his outspoken, sometimes unfiltered opinions, which he gave freely to those that asked; and sometimes without request. His passion and gift for storytelling helped him build many rich relationships throughout his life and endeared him to many friends and acquaintances. He never forgot where he came from and always quietly helped those in need. More than anything, he will be remembered for the love he showed his family.
John lived a happy and full life. His family and friends will deeply miss his stories, wit, intelligence, and love. He did not want to be remembered with sadness and requested there be no traditional funeral. The family will host a celebration of life event to honor him and remember that his was a life to be revered at a future date.
