The Woodlands – Marion Lane of The Woodlands passed away on January 2, 2023, at the age of 85 after suffering a stroke. She was born in Houston, TX on February 28, 1937, to Teoline and Fred Barr.

Marion was a lifetime Houstonian and graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1955. In June of that year, she married the love of her life Kenneth Lane. They were married for over fifty years. She has two children Kimberly and Damon who brought her great joy.

She began her career at Knapp Chevrolet Dealership where she worked for over 25 years. After pursuing other jobs, in the 80’s she moved to work as an executive secretary at Kerr-McGee in their Greenspoint office until she retired in 2000.

She was blessed with five grandchildren, all boys who called her “Mimi”. She helped her daughter Kim and son-in-law Brad with her first grandchild, Cade, and several years later she became an even greater help when their triplets Trent, Bryce and Holt were born. The fifth grandchild Brett was born to Marion’s son Damon and daughter-in-law Jen. Marion tended to Brett from the time he was six weeks old through Junior High School.

Marion was one in a million whose smile would light up a room when she entered. She loved Hallmark movies, listening to country music and spending time with family, especially with her best friend and first cousin Gwen Hauk. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and loyal friend to those who needed her help or encouragement.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, and parents Teoline and Fred Barr and is survived by her daughter Kimberly Clausen and husband Brad, son Damon Lane and wife Jen, five grandsons and sisters Barbara Goodwin and Dolores Lane.

There will be a private service for family only but if you wish to honor Marion’s memory the family suggests you contribute to a charity of your choice.
