HomeAid Houston celebrates its Heroes of 2022

-

They say that true heroes don’t try to do it alone. True to that spirit, HomeAid Houston is celebrating its “HomeAid Heroes” of 2022.

These local companies partnered with HomeAid Houston, a charity of the Greater Houston Builders Association, in their mission to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education.

Houston-area companies are provided an opportunity to give back to the Houston community through the HomeAid Heroes program. As a HomeAid Hero, companies can decide how they would like to participate — through a preset amount every time they celebrate a business milestone, whether it’s the sale of a home, a window installation, closing of a mortgage, etc. or simply donate a certain amount each quarter or year. These dollars make it possible for community homeless shelters to have small renovations completed at no cost to the service provider. In this way, local companies, regardless of their focus, are able to connect with HomeAid in the fight against homelessness in the greater Houston area.

In 2022, the following were “Heroes”: 2-10 Home Builders Warranty, Anglia Homes, LP, ASID — Texas Gulf Coast Chapter, Builders PostTension, C3 Building Solutions, Chesmar Homes, Datasmart/Duncan Security, Eklektik Interiors, Houston Window Fashions, Long Lake Ltd./Woodmere Development Company, Loyd Russel Homes, Newmark Homes, Stanley Sales Co. LLC, TARACORP, TONER Home Matters, Tri Pointe Homes, Winfrey Design Build, and Zonda.

Toner Kersting, owner of TONER Home Matters, said, “We are so proud of our partnership with HomeAid Houston for the last six years. Knowing that a part of every transaction has gone to support such a trusted and effective group makes all the hard work worth it. We have seen firsthand the great results HomeAid has delivered to the homeless community in our city, and we will continue to support them .... ”

HomeAid Houston’s core construction program facilitates the construction/renovation of homeless shelters utilizing the pro bono construction resources of members of the GHBA and its trades to save homeless service providers from 45%-100% of construction costs. Since 2003, HomeAid Houston has completed 77 projects that house over 5,000 homeless men, women, and children annually.
