Herman Robert “Bob” Hohenberger, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, TX, on November 13, 2022. He is survived by daughters Katherine L. H. Watkins of Mesquite, Anne E. Hohenberger of San Antonio, and Robin Hohenberger
Clark (Robert) of Port Aransas and grandchildren Jennifer R. Brueggerhoff, Sean D. Watkins, Hailey E. Clark and Robert “Robbie” Clark V.
Bob was born on December 15, 1928 in San Antonio to Robert “H.R.” Hohenberger, Sr. and Emma Wahrmund Hohenberger. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. In 1949, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. At UT, Bob joined Kappa Alpha Order and in 2015, he was awarded the fraternity’s prestigious Knight Commander’s Accolade. Beginning in 1950, he served seven years with the Texas National Guard (reserve) with the 36th Infantry, earning the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
In 1952, Bob earned a Master of Arts in Psychology from Trinity University. Later, in 1954, Bob earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas later that year.
Bob worked with the family real estate business, Hohenberger-Collins, for a time. In the early 1970s, Bob moved to Houston to practice law. He earned two board certifications from the Texas Board of Legal specialization, in Family Law and Business and Consumer Bankruptcy.
Bob was the founding President of the Houston Bankruptcy Conference, a founding member of the Hon. Arthur L. Moller-David B. Foltz, Jr. American Inn of Court, and a past President of the Spring-Branch-Memorial Bar Association. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists, Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, and the Fort Bend County Bar Association.
Bob donated his body to the Willed Body Program at the UT Health Science Center at Houston. A private memorial will be held in Houston in late January.
