Last-second shot puts away HCU

C.J. Roberts scored on a layup with one second remaining to lift host Texas A&M-Commerce to a 77-76 victory over Houston Christian on Saturday night.

Maks Klanjscek sank two free throws with four seconds to play to give the Huskies a 76-75 lead before Roberts' game-winning shot.

Brycen Long had a game-high 24 points for the Huskies. Bonke Maring had 16 points and Klanjscek finished with 14 for HCU (7-15, 4-5).

Hegel Augustine scored 21 points and Tekorian Smith as the Panthers outlasted the host Tigers in double overtime.

TEXAS A&M 72 VANDERBILT 66

Andersson Garcia's offensive rebound and putback with 1:03 remaining lifted the Aggies to a 68-66 lead, and A&M guard Wade Taylor IV followed with a steal on the other end. Taylor was fouled after swiping the ball and made both his free throws with 44 seconds left in lifting the Aggies to a 70-66 lead they held.

A&M (15-6, 7-1 SEC) overcame a 34-30 halftime deficit against Vanderbilt (10-11, 3-5). Vanderbilt forward Myles Stute made 4-of-5 3-pointers in the first half but cooled off over the final 20 minutes.

Stute led all scorers with 22 points while Henry Coleman III led the Aggies with 18 points.

Isaiah Crawford had 19 points as the Bulldogs beat the Roadrunner­s at San Antonio.

Crawford added seven rebounds for the Bulldogs (12-10, 5-6 Conference USA).

The Roadrunner­s (7-16, 1-11) were led by Isaiah Addo-Ankrah with 14 points and six rebounds.

Austin Crowley's 24 points helped the Golden Eagles top the Bobcats at Hattiesbur­g, Miss.

Crowley had seven rebounds and three steals for the Golden Eagles (19-4, 8-2 Sun Belt Conference).

Nighael Ceaser led the way for the Bobcats (11-12, 4-6) with 12 points.

Trey Miller scored 16 points apiece as the Cardinals edged the Colonels at San Antonio for their fourth win in a row.

At H&PE Arena, Tamiracle Taylor and Kennedy Paul scored 16 points apiece for the Panthers (9-11). Andriana Avent led the Tigers (1-19) with 15 points.

In Lubbock, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs led the Bears (14-6, 5-3 Big 12) with 16 points. Bre'Amber Scott led the Red Raiders (15-6, 3-5) with 22 points.

Taylor Jones led five Longhorns in double figures in scoring with 19 points in a win at Austin.

Shaylee Gonzales had 17 points and Rori Harmon had 16 points for Texas (16-6, 7-2 Big 12).
