Born at home in Ft. Worth, TX. to Alma Kate Cheek & Leonard Crook Cheek, the youngest of 4 children. Died in Round Rock, TX. where she had lived for the last 3 years. Educated at Circle

Park Grammar School, North Side High School. Enrolled at Southweste­rn University, Georgetown, TX. at age 17, where she later met Douglas D. Brack. They married in 1948. He predecease­d her in 1998.

Survived by 3 children: Lisa C. Shroyer (David), Leonard Brack (Joy), John Brack (Janel). And son, Michael Brack, deceased. Also special friend of the family, Ingrid Lampe who was like a daughter to Leona. Grandchild­ren: Caitlin Shroyer-Ladeira, Nathan Shroyer (Brittany), Noah Shroyer (Jill Ann), Lysa Castillo, Patrizia Ciuppa. Great-grandchild­ren: Theo Shroyer-Ladeira, Twain & Whipple Shroyer, Johnathan & Abby Shroyer, Hazel & Miles Jarrell-Shroyer, Lily Castillo.

Leona was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r, & greatgrand­mother; an artistic and fun-loving person who made many friends throughout her lifetime. Over the years she lived for extended periods in St. Louis, Houston, and finally the Austin area. Leona was primarily employed as a mother and homemaker while her children grew, but later worked in various retail positions until gaining employment for 24 years at the Houston Council for Recovery, until her retirement at age 85. Leona was a loving, gregarious, warm, witty soul who learned and grew for nearly 95 years, remaining engaged until illnesses slowed her in her last year. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

The family plans a private memorial service at a future date. If desired, memorial contributi­ons in Leona’s name may be made to your local food bank.
