Baylor tops No. 12 Iowa St.; No. 24 Texas holds off Kansas

AMES, Iowa — Sarah Andrews scored 10 of her 21 points during the fourth quarter and Baylor held off No. 12 Iowa State 76-70.

The Bears (16-6, 7-3 Big 12) have won 11 in a row at Hilton Coliseum.

Darianna Littlepage­Buggs had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears.

Ashley Joens scored 23 points and Nyamer Diew had 25 for the Cyclones (15-6, 7-4).

NO. 24 TEXAS 68 KANSAS 65

DeYona Gaston scored 24 points and intercepte­d a half-court pass as time ran out to preserve the Longhorns’ win over the host Jayhawks to remain in first place in the Big-12.

Gaston hit a jumper with 4:33 left to put Texas in front for good, 61-59, then made it a four-point lead with a jumper with 1:54 left.

Gaston was 12 of 20 from the field, pulled down seven rebounds and had four steals to lead Texas (18-6, 9-2 Big 12). Sonya Morris had 13 points and Faye pulled down 10 rebounds.

Jackson scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Kansas (14-7, 4-6). Zakiyah Franklin scored 20 points.

UH 65, TEMPLE 60

Laila Blair scored 25 points and the Cougars overcame a 14-point deficit in a victory over the Owls at Fertitta Center.

The Cougars (9-13, 6-3 AAC) started their comeback late in the first half and outscored Temple (10-12, 5-5) over the final three quarters for their third straight victory.

UH forward Tatyana Hill had 15 rebounds along with 10 points.

HOUSTON CHRISTIAN 68 NICHOLLS 55

N’Denasija Collins scored 20 points, Marilyn Nzoiwu added 15 and Kennedy Wilson scored 14 as the Huskies won at Sharp Gym.

HCU (10-12, 5-6 SLC) has won two in a row.

Lexi Alexander and Deonna Brister both finished with 19 points for the Colonels (4-17, 1-9).

NORTH TEXAS 69, RICE 66

Quincy Noble scored 17 points and the Mean Green held off the Owls at Denton.

Malia Fisher led Rice with 20 points and eight rebounds. Ashlee Austin had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Owls (15-6, 6-6 Conference USA).

Morgan Beacham scored 12 points and Chanel Wilson in a win over the host Panthers.

Tamiracle Taylor had a game-high 15 points for the Panthers (0-12, 6-4 SWAC).

FLORIDA A&M 66 TEXAS SOUTHERN 55

Dylan Horton scored a game-high 17 points and the visiting Rattlers handed the Tigers their sixth consecutiv­e defeat.

Donterria Brown had 12 points and 10 rebounds for TSU (1-19, 1-8 SWAC). The Rattlers improved to 5-18 and 3-6.

OKLAHOMA ST. 77, TCU 65

Naomie Alnatas had 20 points and five assists and Taylen Collins scored 19 points as the Cowgirls won at Fort Worth.

Lucy Ibeh and Tara Manumaleug­a both scored 19 points for the Horned Frogs (6-16, 0-11 Big 12).

TCU held Oklahoma State (16-7, 6-5) to its second-worst 3-point percentage (.190) of the season.

Jordyn Jenkins had 20 points and 16 rebounds and Elyssa Coleman scored 18 points as the Roadrunner­s won at San Antonio.

Kyra White added 13 rebounds and eight assists for UTSA (6-16, 4-9 Conference USA). Courtney Whitson scored 13 points for MTSU (18-4, 11-2).

Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu scored 21 points, Sammie Puisis had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Bulls won their 12th straight and matched the 2020-21 team for the program’s best start in AAC play.

Elena Tsineke scored 15 points for the Bulls (22-4, 11-0).

Jasmine Smith scored 26 points for the Mustangs (14-7, 5-4).
