She met her best friend and husband, Larry Judson Gunn, when they were in middle school in Shreveport, Louisiana. They attended Byrd High School and LSU together before marrying in 1963.

They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 9. Ann and Larry moved their family to Houston in 1972 with United Gas Pipeline.

Ann led an amazingly active and fulfilling life. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA and graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in math education.

She was accepted into Mortar Board honor society and up until a few months ago, would confidently share with friends and family that she could still perform calculus equations.

While at LSU, Ann served as Chapter President of

Pi Beta Phi Sorority and remained active as an alum throughout her life, serving as Collegiate Chapter President, Houston Alumnae Club President and International Director of Membership.

She touched the lives of many couples and left a legacy at St. Paul’s.

Ann was the picture of grace. She was the consummate hostess and the most attentive listener to anyone she welcomed around her kitchen table. She blessed those around her with thoughtful words and genuine compliments. Ann had a passion for learning and used her intellect and curiosity to inspire the same in her children and grandchildren. She brought joy to the lives of so many and loved to laugh and have fun. She was blessed to have so many friends who were as fond of her as she was of them.

Ann was preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother, Robert Theodore Johnson. She is survived by her children whom she dearly loved, Lauren Gunn Ross and husband Ned of Burton, TX; Sarah Gunn Dameris and husband Thad of Houston, TX; and David Rogers Gunn and wife Beth Anne of Katy, TX.
