LIVELY LIVING
Green spaces and great friendships make Brazos Towers a Houston favorite
When it comes to accolades, it’s hard to top Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor.
The community, located just inside Loop 610, is consistently recognized for quality and excellence. In addition to having earned a five-star rating from Medicare and Best Nursing Home ranking from US News and
World Report since 2015, Brazos Towers has also been voted by Houston Chronicle readers as the “Best of The Best” Retirement Community for three consecutive years.
According to Michelle Watkins, marketing director for the past 11 years, “The best community will always be the one that encompasses everything you need, beautiful surroundings and a generous spirit in the people who live and work there. We proudly deliver on all counts. Brazos is a very special place.”
The outdoors is outstanding.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2023, Brazos Towers is a veritable oasis inside the loop. This all-inclusive community boasts seven acres of manicured greenspaces ribboned with shaded walking paths, a community garden, and a putting green, so residents can enjoy all that nature has to offer. Such outdoor luxuries are practically unheard of so close to downtown and the Med Center.
However, when asked to name the best part about life at Brazos Towers, residents quickly reached a consensus.
The community's active and independent environment encourages meaningful social engagement and successful aging.
Warm. Welcoming. Wonderful.
“The best thing about Brazos Towers, of course, is the people,” says resident Virginia Jacoby. “It’s a very encouraging place to live because everyone cares about each other.”
For resident Sarah Grace Monroe, the people made all the difference when she decided to move
to Brazos Towers from England a few years ago. “The residents treated me like family. They welcomed me. I feel so at home here, but the best part is the food!” she giggles. “Moving here is one of the best decisions I ever made.”
What a lively way to live!
With an environment of inclusivity and a robust calendar of daily activities, there is something for everyone. “There’s so much to do here; you can’t possibly do it all!” says resident Florence McKelvey.
“I think we’re really good at welcoming new people and encouraging them to participate in the community,” says resident Barbara McKittrick. “The atmosphere here is anything but quiet and subdued. It can be downright raucous at times!”
In addition to onsite activities, residents also participate in cultural outings to museums, entertainment excursions to theaters, and even make recreational trips to places like Galveston for adventure and engagement.
Comfort and care.
Another “best” of Brazos Towers is its variety of floor plans and square footage. From single-bedroom apartments to expansive two-bed, two-bath designs, there is a style for every need.
Opportunities to personalize your space with customized interiors are also available.
Most importantly, Brazos Towers delivers a sense of security and peace of mind.
Should health needs change, all levels of care are provided on site, including 24-hour skilled nursing and rehabilitation.
What’s more, major improvements to their existing generating system will soon keep the entire campus up and running in the event of an electrical outage, even A/C and refrigerators in individual apartments.
