On Monday at lunch, Conroe residents will be able to pair their craving for crispy chicken fingers with their love for hometown boy Parker McCollum.

McCollum will work the drive-thru and counter from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Raising Cane’s at 2127 West Davis St. near Conroe High School.

Following his appearance and “shift” at Raising Cane’s, the country music star is making his second RodeoHouston appearance, kicking off the rodeo’s 2023 concert series as the opening night headliner Tuesday night. He was a headliner during the 2022 event.

“I am a fan of Parker’s music and we have become friends over the years. Very happy for him to be headlining the rodeo and working the Cane’s drive thru in his hometown of Conroe, and giving away 20 tickets from Cane’s,” said Todd Graves, Raising Cane’s Founder and CEO.

McCollum will be giving away 20 free RodeoHouston tickets to fans on site — made possible by Raising Cane’s.

McCollum grew up in Conroe and in a December interview with The Courier he said no matter where he’s touring, he lets fans know Conroe has a special place in his heart.

“I love this town a lot,” McCollum, 30, said. “I’ve been all over the country and I never feel as at home as when I’m in those pines.”

He began playing local gigs in high school. Then after graduation, he didn’t have a whole lot of interest in college and he decided to follow in his older brother Tyler’s footsteps as a musician.

He moved to Austin after high school to make a go of it.

His debut album “The Limestone Kid” was recorded at Cedar Creek Recording in Austin.

McCollum signed on with Universal Music Group in 2019 and his first single under the label was “Pretty Heart.”

“Gold Chain Cowboy,” released in 2021, broke into the Billboard 200 and also reached No. 6 on the country charts. Last year’s single “Handle on You” was another hit and hints at more new music to come.

He’ll release a new album “Never Enough” in May. Then he’ll head out for some tour dates with fellow Country musician Morgan Wallen.
