JACK AND JILL OF AMERICA, INCORPORATED HOUSTON CHAPTER 2022-2023 “WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD”
The Houston Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated hosted its 32nd Biennial Debutante Ball on December 29, 2022. Twenty-eight beautiful and accomplished college-aged women were presented and six college-aged men were introduced to society at the ball which was themed “What A Wonderful World”. Mrs. Melinda Spaulding Chevalier, V.P. of Communication and University Advancement at Texas Southern University, and Mr. Jonathan Martin, the Evening Anchor of Fox 26 News, served as Mistress and Master of the ceremony. The debutantes curtsied upon making their debut and then waltzed with their escorts followed by a waltz with their proud parents to Louis Armstrong and Kenny G’s rendition of the classic, “What a Wonderful World”. Guests danced the night away to the sounds of Lloyd Hughes and the Collector’s Item Band.
The Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Americas was transformed into a majestic palace reminiscent of old-world charm. Guests were seated in French Louis XV style floating chairs at tables of glass, mirror, and gold. The elegant table decor included hanging wisteria and cherry blossom trees draped with crystal orbs. Above the dance floor was a spectacular 6000 string crystal chandelier, designed by Ana Jonegin of owner of Royal Luxury Events, which provided an alluring glow throughout the night. Over 900 guests enjoyed the black-tie affair consisting of a cocktail hour, a three-course meal, and a champagne toast.
The 32nd Biennial Debutante Ball was chaired by Mrs. Colette Loeb Burns, with support from Mrs. Lisa Bynam, MDrrs.. Sarita Dillard, Mrs. Shannon Davis Hunter, Mrs. Natashia Miller, Mrs. Keisha Cohen Phillips, Mrs. Barbara Shelby-Roberts and Mrs. Terri Turner-Smith. Dr. Jocelyn T. Greely is the President of the Houston Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated which commemorated its 70th Anniversary on Saturday, March 4, 2023 with an Annual Golf Classic.
