HomeAid dedicates Leslie King bathroom at Krause Children’s Center
HomeAid Houston teamed up with Allen Griffin, president of Gryphon Builders, and Jeff Hunt, owner of Jeff Hunt Construction, along with several other GHBA Remodelers Council members to provide renovation assistance to Krause Children’s Center. This is HomeAid Houston’s third remodeling project for the agency.
The team made the improvements to the outdoor space for residents and remodeled the volunteer/staff bathroom in the lobby, including plumbing and aesthetic upgrades.
The newly remodeled bathroom was named in honor of the late Leslie King, a longtime GHBA Remodelers Council member and friend to many in the association. The remodeling team commemorated the event with a toilet paper cutting, and a plaque to mark the occasion.
“I was honored to hear that this space would be dedicated to Leslie,” said her daughter, Kelly Kirk, president of Greymark Construction Company. “The project was beautifully crafted by two of her good friends in the industry in her honor. My mother’s passion was helping young women in education. Krause focuses on young women and giving them a safe place to be while overcoming difficult issues and by providing them a sanctuary which makes it easier to focus on their education, so it was a natural fit.”
“This project appealed to me for several reasons,” said Griffin, “the first being that the Center is receiving a plaque in memory of Leslie
King, one of GHBA’s most respected builders and individuals within our industry.
“Also, being able to offer my construction management in partnership with HomeAid and ... Jeff Hunt made working on the remodel rewarding in many ways.”
