07/02/1945 - 02/26/2023

Craig Hart Christie passed away at his home on Sunday, February 26, 2023, with his wife and children by his side. He was born in Houston on July 2, 1945, to H. Merlyn Christie and Helene Weatherhead Christie. Craig was the youngest of three children, a brother, Carter, and sister, Kay. He attended grade school at St. John’s, where he met several of his lifelong friends. He then attended Greenfields school in Tucson, Arizona, before returning home to Houston and attending the University of St. Thomas.

Craig had a passion for anything that went fast: cars, motorcycles, dragsters and more. He spent many weekends at the drag strips, working on cars and enjoying his friends and winning races.

He met his wife, Pam, through mutual friends when they were in their teens, and they dated for five years before marrying on May 30, 1965, in the chapel at St. John’s. After their marriage, Craig went to work for his father at Christie, Mitchell & Mitchell, learning the oil business, and later at Christie Investments with his brother and sister.

He and Pam had two beloved children, Craig Jr., and Courtland. He was a wonderful father who taught them many fun activities.

Craig loved entertaining; he was warm, funny, and authentic and loved having people around.

Most of the time, you could find him in cowboy boots and jeans, smoking his favorite cigars and listening to his music. Music was always a major part of his life, so much so that in 1971, he started his own company, Wild West Productions, that brought major rock concerts to Houston. Wild West Productions was a major venue for acts such as The Rolling Stones, Bette Midler, BB King, The Allman Brothers Band, Van Morrison, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Carol King and James Taylor.

Although he left us too soon, he lived life to the fullest. We are overwhelmingly heartbroken and will forever have a hole in our hearts but know that he is wrapped up in the everlasting arms of Christ and his loving presence remains with us always.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Helene Weatherford Christie, his father, Hart Merlyn Christie, and an infant daughter. He is survived and immensely loved by his wife of 56 years Pamela Anthony Christie, his son Craig Christie, Jr. and wife, Polly, and her children Atticus and Tabitha; daughter Courtland Pamela Christie and her son Cameron McKenzie Christie; his sister Kay McKenzie Christie; his brother Carter Byron Christie, and 8 nieces and nephews, as well as dear friend and longtime professional assistant Barbara Cole.

Craig was a lifelong member at St. John the Divine and he had memberships at the Houston Racquet Club and the River Oaks Country Club. He was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and enjoyed his years on a Bar B Que Cookoff team that won several awards.

The family will gather for a private memorial service in the chapel at St. John the Divine, which holds many wonderful memories of their life. At a later date, there will be an inurnment service at St. John the Divine Columbarium. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorials can be made to St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd., Houston, Texas 77019 or to the Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, Texas 77423.
