Larry Judson Gunn of Houston, Texas, passed away on March 19, 2023, surrounded by family. Larry was born on October 11, 1940, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Irene Washington Gunn and Paul Louis Gunn of Shreveport, Louisiana. He met the love of his life, Ann Johnson, while in middle school in Shreveport, Louisiana. They attended Byrd High School and LSU before marrying in 1963. Larry and Ann would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 9, 2023; however, Ann passed away on February 1, 2023.

Larry led an amazingly active and fulfilling life. After serving in the Navy, he graduated from LSU Law School in 1969 and joined the law firm of Hargrove, Guyton, Van Hook, and Ramey in Shreveport. His energy law expertise led him to United Gas Pipe Line Company that was moved to Houston in 1972 after it was acquired by Pennzoil. He became Associate General Counsel and led the company through challenging times. The last few years of his career were spent at CenterPoint Energy.

His professional life included memberships in the Louisiana Bar Association, State

Bar of Texas, and Federal Energy Bar Association. He was appointed by Governors Richards and Bush to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission and also served on the Louisiana Mineral

Law Advisory Council. Civic and philanthropic commitments included serving on the boards and leadership of the Corporate Volunteer Council of Greater Houston, Houston Symphony, Natural Gas Group, Serve Houston Youth Corps, Clean Houston, and HISD Community Partners Mentoring Program. His local involvement included serving on neighborhood civic associations and utility district boards.

Larry was a man of faith, family and integrity. He and Ann attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he held many roles throughout the years on the Administrative Board and Pastor Parish Relations Committee. He was also a lay reader and usher.

“Pop,” as his family lovingly referred to him, was driven by intellectual curiosity, particularly of mechanical and electrical devices. He loved to tinker and learn how things worked. One of his fondest memories was restoring a 1966 Ford Mustang convertible with his son. The family farm has been a source of joy, calm, and education for Larry and his family, especially his precious grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by both of his parents and his adoring wife, Ann. He is survived by his brother, John Gunn, of San Diego, California, and his loving children, Lauren Gunn Ross and husband Ned of Burton, TX; Sarah Gunn Dameris and husband Thad of Houston, TX; and David Rogers Gunn and wife Beth Anne of Katy, TX. He loved and adored his nine grandchildren and lovingly guided and mentored them.

A service to honor Larry’s life will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on April 8th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be made to the St.

Paul’s Foundation at www. stpaulshouston.org/st-paulsfoundation or in care of St. Paul’s Methodist Foundation, 5501 Main St., Houston,
