DONNA M. CROSS 01/01/1928 - 03/17/2023

-

Donna M. Cross, 95, of Houston, Texas, joined her beloved husband, Jim, of nearly 72 years, in heaven on March 17, 2023. Their wedding verse to one another on August 20, 1948, was Psalm 34:3, “Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together.” She was a committed disciple of Jesus Christ, God’s only beloved Son, following His example and abiding by Christ’s teachings.

Donna was born in Greeley, Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta in the Beta Iota chapter. She only attended for two years because all the women left the university when WW2 ended so the returning soldiers could finish college. She completed her B.A. 25 years later at Cleveland State University.

She earned her M.A. in Psychology at Houston Baptist University. She mentored and counseled hundreds of clients as a therapist, fulfilling one of her life goals.

Music was a defining component in Donna’s life. Throughout her adult life, she sang as a soprano in countless church, community, and semi-professional choirs.

Donna and Jim enjoyed traveling to 61 countries on seven continents for business and pleasure. During retirement, they spent seven years with Frontiers USA Mission at its High Wycombe, England, headquarters. As hospitality hosts, they welcomed over 160 missionaries annually to their home. Donna considered her missionary work as a high point

Donna was a dedicated stay-at-home Mom while raising her children. She was a loving mother to Sharie Middleton, Garry Cross, Jim Cross, and Judie Cross; and proud grandmother to Alicia Middleton and Seth Stephens, David Middleton, Michael and Valerie Cross, Emily and Jon Childress, Laura and Josh Mayfield, and Harper

A celebration of life for both Donna and Jim will be held Tuesday, April 4, at Eagles Trace. Contributions may be made on Donna’s behalf to Bridgepoint Bible Church, Mission Program, 13277 Katy Freeway, #1409, Houston, TX 77079, or Frontiers USA, P.O. Box 60730, Phoenix, AZ, 85082-0730.
