Dynamo can’t overcome Espinoza’s penalty kicks
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Cristian Espinoza scored twice on penalty kicks to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-1 victory over the Dynamo on Saturday night.
Espinoza’s first PK goal came in the seventh minute, and the San Jose (3-2-1) lead stood until Amine Bassi scored on a penalty kick in the 42nd minute for Houston (23-0) to knot the score at halftime.
Espinoza’s winner came in the 65th minute. Dash break through:
A penalty kick in the 60th minute by Diana Ordóñez put the Dash ahead to stay as Houston earned its first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over the Chicago Red Stars.
The Dash took the lead four minutes into the match after forward Ebony Salmon found forward Maria Sanchez, who was making a run in the middle of the box. Sanchez found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Chicago had tied the game in the 18th minute.
GOLF
Rodgers ahead at Texas Open
Patrick Rodgers shot a 1-under 71 to take a one-stroke lead into the final round of the Valero Texas Open.
Making his 235th tour start, the 30-year-old Rodgers had a 12-under 204 total at the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.
Canadian Corey Conners, the 2019 Texas
Open winner, was second after a 69. Matt Kuchar was 9 under. Chris Kirk (69) and Sam Stevens (68) were 8 under.
Yin up two: Ruoning Yin shot a 4-under 67 to take a two-stroke lead in the LPGA Tour’s DIO Implant LA Open at
Palos Verdes Golf Club.
Yin was 14-under 199 total. Hyo Joo Kim was second after a 69.
Koepka leading LIV event: Brooks Koepka fired a 6-under 65 for a three-shot lead in LIV Golf-Orlando.
Koepka played bogeyfree at Orange County National. Sebastian Munoz of Colombia, who followed his 62 with an even-par 71, was second.
Zhang prevails: Rose Zhang outlasted Jenny Bae to win the Augusta Women’s Amateur in a playoff.
Texas A&M’s Jennie Park and incoming freshman Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio finished in the top 10.

Kvitova claims Miami Open title
Twelfth-seeded veteran Petra Kvitova, in her 13th appearance at the Miami Open, won her first Miami crown with an upset of 7th-seed Elena Rybakina on Saturday with a marathon tiebreaker in a 7-6 (14), 6-2 win.
