HomeAid, First America Homes complete day center
On February 24, HomeAid Houston, Family Promise of Lake Houston, and First America Homes, the home-building division of the Signorelli Company, gathered to celebrate the dedication of “The Promise House”, a newly completed day center for Family Promise of Lake Houston serving homeless families in Houston. The center provides administrative and program space where homeless and atrisk families in north Houston will receive individual counseling, higher education and training classes, and mentoring.
Located near the intersection of Wilson Road and FM 1960 in Humble, the 5,800square-foot Promise House began construction in 2020 with First America Homes overseeing construction.
“We are very happy to work on this project alongside two incredible charities,” said Kristen Rinewalt, Vice President of Purchasing for First America Homes. “We couldn’t have done it without our vendors who donated materials and labor to help with the costs.”
Dave Barnhart, Division President of First America Homes, added “No one chooses to be homeless, and we are blessed to be able to give back, help these families get back on their feet, and find success through this program.”
Families utilizing The Promise House will have access to bath facilities, a family room, a teaching kitchen, a playroom, and a dining room. Family Promise of Lake Houston addresses the immediate needs of homeless families while empowering them to attain self-sufficiency.
At Family Promise of Lake Houston, families are given the opportunity to build a new community network to help achieve their goals of independence.
“We strive to give families the resources and support they need to keep their families together, while helping them to heal and work together to gain their independence from poverty and homelessness,” Jessica Penney, Executive Director of Family Promise of Lake Houston stated.
