Arlene Mildred Jones Flatley (“Scottie”), 88, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Lynn Jones, and parents Rudolph and Mildred Scott. She is survived by her two children, Scott Jones and wife, Cheri Jones of Midland, Texas, and Kevin Jones and wife, Annette Jones of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and her four grandchild­ren, Kelly Jones, Kristen Jones, Taylor Jones and Chloe Jones.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband, William M. Flatley of Naples, Florida, and his six children, Theresa Flatley, of Naples, Florida, Karen Dudek and husband, Kenny Dudek, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, William M. Flatley, Jr., of Denver Colorado,

Laura Lacey, (Deceased), and husband, Neil Lacey, of Denver, Colorado, Stephen Flatley and wife, Kathleen Flatley of Mahwah, New Jersey, Margaret Genden and husband, Kurt Genden, of North Salem, New York; and her eighteen additional grandchild­ren, Alex Bardani, Sam Bardani, Evan Flatley, Hanna Curtis, Anna Schultz, Rachel Hartfield, Sarah Dudek, Jessica Dudek, Mary Dudek, Stephen Flatley, William M. Flatley III, Michael Flatley, John Lacey, Joshua Lacey, Jacob Lacey, Brian Flatley, Kelly Flatley, and Henry Genden; and her seven great-grandchild­ren, Luke Marchese, Noah Marchese, Christene Hartfield, Beatrice Hartfield, Faith Schultz,

Casey Schultz, and Cameron Bardani.

Arlene was born on December 25, 1934 in Houston, Texas to Rudolph and Mildred Scott. She grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended Lamar High School. She graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Music as an organ major. She taught Junior High music for three years before marrying Bob Jones in 1957. They moved to Washington D.C. where Bob served in the U. S. Army and Arlene worked at the Pentagon for two years before moving back to Texas. They started their family in Houston, and subsequent­ly moved to New Canaan, Connecticu­t in 1967, where Bob was Chief Counsel of Gulf + Western Industries in New York City. Arlene was Organist for the First United Methodist Church of New Canaan for 25 years, serving on many committees with the PTA, FUMC and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Bob died unexpected­ly in 1983 leaving her to finish raising her two sons.

Arlene’s marriage to Bill Flatley in 1995 brought her to Florida in 1996. Bill and Arlene enjoyed retirement in beautiful Naples, Florida, residing in Pelican Marsh. Arlene served as a substitute organist at many locations, delivered flowers to hospitals, served as President of the local Alpha Chi chapter, and was a member of Panhelleni­c. Bill and Arlene moved to the Glenview retirement community in 2009 where she began her greatest love serving on the Fresh Start Committee of the Collier County Foundation for over five years.

Arlene was a woman of strong faith and loving kindness. She epitomized grace, class, and selflessne­ss. Arlene was loved by everyone who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Naples Church, Naples Florida (www.nnchurch.org). Graveside Services followed by a reception will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
