MADELINE SHEA KELLY

04/24/1994 - 04/04/2023

-

It is with great sorrow that the extended Kelly family announces the passing of our beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend Madeline Shea “Maddy” Kelly on Tuesday, the 4th of April 2023. She was 28 years of age.

Maddy was born in Houston on the 24th of April 1994, to Kim and Mark Kelly. She grew up in Houston with her brother and sister, and attended The Kinkaid School (class of 2012), where she developed lifelong friendships. Maddy chose to follow in her family’s footsteps and graduated from Texas A&M University, earning a BBA in Accounting and MS in Management, before beginning a successful career at Opportune, an energy consulting firm, in Houston.

Maddy had the biggest heart, most beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and incredible compassion for others. She was strong-willed and outspoken and was certainly no shrinking violet when it came to expressing her views. Maddy’s empathy and love for others was unparalleled and her big personality could light up a room. She had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel accepted and special from the moment she met them.

Even as a young child, Maddy always had exquisite taste. Family and friends frequently sought her advice on jewelry, clothes, purses or fine dining solidifying her status as her family’s de facto personal shopper.

Always the life of the party, Maddy enjoyed hanging out with her close friends. When not out and about, she liked to spend her time at home curled up on the couch with her two cats or cooking and gardening with her boyfriend, Andrew “Drew” Douglass, Jr.

Maddy prioritized time for family and especially loved being with her parents. From “Law & Order” watch parties with her mom to lunch and dinner dates with her dad at the handful of restaurants they enjoyed together. More recently, she had fully embraced her new title as aunt to her niece and nephews, and absolutely loved spending time with them. The feeling was certainly mutual, as the four kids adored their Aunt Maddy.

She is survived by her mother, Kim Kelly, and father, Mark Kelly; paternal grandparents, Cyd and Tom Kelly; maternal grandmother, Shirley Binford; sister, Kristin Kelly and her husband BJ Walker; brother, Ryan Kelly and his wife Rachel; nephews, Charlie Kelly, Theo Walker and Preston Walker; and niece, Merritt Walker; as well as countless adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life at three o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the 13th of April, in the Sanctuary of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street in Houston, where the Rev. Josef Klam is to officiate.

In lieu of customary remembrances, her family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in her name be directed to the National Philanthropic Trust, 165 Township Line Road, Suite 1200, Jenkintown, PA 19046 with reference to the Maddy Shea Kelly Memorial Fund.

Please visit Maddy’s online memorial tribute at GeoHLewis.com where fond memories and words of comfort and condolence may be shared with her family.

Maddy was taken from this world too soon and will be missed more than words can describe, but we know her spirit will be watching out for those she left behind.
