Anita Louise (nee Coop) Bonney, 81 years of age, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at her home in Houston, Texas. Born in Salem, Marion County, Oregon on February 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Henry Smithen Dotson and Dorothy Helen (Ellner) Coop.

Anita studied accounting and home economics at Oregon State University. On August 8, 1964, Anita married Ray Conrad Bonney before beginning a lifetime of service as an Army Officer’s wife. During her husband’s military career, she had the opportunit­y to live in Baumholder, Frankfurt, and Heidelberg, Germany in addition to multiple locations in the United States. Upon Ray’s retirement from the US Army, the family relocated to Texas where Anita had been a resident of the Houston area since 1987, during which time she earned certificat­ion as a Master Gardener through the Texas A&M Ag Extension.

Anita is preceded in death by her husband, Ray, and son, Timothy Robert Bonney. She is also preceded in death by her siblings William Henry Coop, Barbara Joan Buntjer, and James Birdell Coop. She is survived by her sister Mary Marguerite Bowen (Coeur d’Alene, ID), her daughter Angela Lynn (wife Katherine Trauth) Bonney of Houston, TX, and multiple nieces and nephews. She will be interred with her husband in the Houston National Cemetery.
