Jerrold Evert Landon, 87, of Houston, passed away on March 16, 2023. The son of L. Evert and Blanche Marie Morrison Landon, Jerry was born in Tacoma, Washington, where he attended Stadium High School and learned to love boating and the Pacific Northwest.

He attended The University of Washington in Seattle then moved to Chicago, working for Continenta­l Can Company. There, he met his wife, JoAnn “Joni” Stewart, whom he married in 1963. Soon after, they were transferre­d to New York and a few years later to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

They returned stateside two years later to live in Bronxville, New York, where their twin daughters were born. When Continenta­l Can moved to Stamford, Connecticu­t, the family moved to Westport.

In 1982, the family moved again, this time to Houston, where Jerry became president of Southwest Chemical Company. Joining the Houston Yacht Club was where Jerry enjoyed his free time, taught his girls his love of boating and became Commodore in 1988.

Jerry enjoyed both sail and power boating and sports cars, including racing. He loved to travel, especially taking a cruise with friends or a driving trip to the Texas Hill Country.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Blanche and Evert Landon, his stepmother, Eddy Landon, and his brother, Richard Landon.

He is survived by his wife, Joni Landon; daughters Danielle Kernell (Terry) and Michelle Mueller (Holger, deceased); granddaugh­ters Caroline and Emily Kernell; and grandsons Alexander, Nicholas and Maximilian Mueller.
