ELLEN ELIZABETH (BETSY) ACHE

01/07/1931 - 06/24/2023

-

Ellen Elizabeth Ache, fondly known as Betsy, passed away peacefully on June 24th in the company of her beloved family.

Betsy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 7, 1931, to Betty and Hugh Evans, their only child. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School, the same High School as her father and her husband Paul. She continued her education at Smith College, Oklahoma University and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Tulsa. She continued throughout her life to visit Tulsa and keep close contact with friends she met during those school days.

Betsy was happily married to Paul S. Ache Jr for 65 years. Paul was a petroleum engineer who founded his own company, Crest Resources, who proceeded her in death in 2017. Betsy was a fun and devoted mother to her three sons who survived her: John and his wife Diane, Paul III and his wife Katie, Hugh, and his wife Tracy. She adored her grandchildren Matt, Scott, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Meredith, Paul IV, Alyson and her four great grandchildren, Logan, Joseph Paul, Annalise, and Genevieve.

Besides loving her family, Betsy was active in many areas of service. Betsy was a member of the Kappa

Alpha Theta Sorority, and a daughter of the Colonial Dames. She was a docent for Bayou Bend, being the first docent to receive a 50-year service award. Her love for antiques led her to continued education at the Addingham Summer School in London England. In addition, she was appointed as one of the first woman non-lawyers, to serve on the State Bar of Texas’ grievance committee.

Most satisfying to her was her time in the church kitchen at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, the Texas Children’s Hospital, and M.D. Andersons’ Pediatric Hospital. These activities are all witness to her loving and giving heart.

She was not only well-loved by her family and friends but also her many beagles. Betsy never met a stranger. Everyone she met was considered her friend.

Her family would like to thank all those who have taken an active role in the care of her in the past few years, especially the wonderful staff at the Buckingham, and Patty Chavez who took care of her last beagle, Brandi.

A visitation for Elizabeth will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079. A memorial service and reception will occur Friday, June 30, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Memorial Drive Presbyterian, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialoaksfunerals.com for the Ache family.
