Kenneth Ward O’Meara passed away on June 25,

2023 surrounded by the love of his family in Austin, Texas. He was born in Denver, Colorado on October 2, 1928 to Clifton and Eloise O’Meara, and came of age in Houston, Texas.

Kenneth (affectiona­tely called Paw Paw) was a true Texas cowboy, devoted husband and father, and patriot who loved his country. He was a military policeman during the Korean War, a rancher, serial entreprene­ur, real estate developer, restaurant and hotel owner, and oil and gas investor.

He was the Founder and Chairman of the Board of several companies including, O’Meara Chandler Corporatio­n, Universal Internatio­nal Insurance Company, Benson Company, and O’Meara Properties. He was also the Founder and Owner of Ranch Investment­s and Land Merchants of Texas.

Known by many for his loyalty, integrity, and profound generosity, Kenneth provided encouragem­ent and support for his loved ones and community. Throughout his life, he fought for the vulnerable and championed the underdog. He welcomed countless people into his family home with warmth and hospitalit­y and gave to others with sacrificia­l love.

Kenneth was an avid UT sports fan. He was also passionate about ranching, training and riding horses, and caring for animals, including his beloved dogs. His family fondly remembers the times he would play guitar and sing classic country songs with his rich baritone voice. He loved to sit on the back porch of his ranch and sing along with several generation­s.

Kenneth is proceeded in death by his parents, four siblings, and his grandchild­ren Clifton Axtell and Gracie Kiltz. He is survived by his wife Patti O’Meara and his children: Evan O’Meara, Mollie O’Meara Axtell, Clifton O’Meara, Erin O’Meara

Kiltz, Mike O’Meara, and Jay O’Meara. He is also survived by his 8 grandchild­ren and 16 great grandchild­ren.

His family welcomes donations in his honor to Brookwood in Georgetown and Ride on Center for Kids. Please join us in celebratin­g his life.

Visitation: Wednesday, July 5 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home (6-8pm)

Celebratio­n of Life: Thursday, July 6 at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home (2pm) with Reception to follow at Austin Country Club

Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home is located at 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX 78731

A private interment will be held on July 7.

Kenneth’s pallbearer­s include: Luke Axtell, Kenneth O’Meara, Riley Kiltz, Dylan O’Meara, Johann Ash and Elliot Anderson.

For Kenneth’s fellow UT sports fans, Longhorn attire is welcome.
