Maxine Reingold, 89, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, June

29, 2023 in Houston, TX. Maxine was born on April 22, 1934 in Houston to the late Max and Lillie Frosch. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1951. She and Harold Reingold married in 1953 and raised three children, Steven, Sharon, and Beth.

Maxine attended the University of Houston, studying French and English, shortly after her children started school. She earned a Masters Degree in French at the University of Houston, and completed coursework for her PhD in French at Rice University. Throughout this time, she participat­ed in the burgeoning women’s movement. She proudly attended the National Women’s Conference in Houston in 1977; and she continued to meet with her feminist women’s group for the rest of her life. After studying commercial French in Paris, she left academia for the corporate world and worked as a French liaison for Capital Bank and Schlumberg­er. Her most fulfilling occupation was as an account manager for ComputerCr­aft during the early days of personal computing. She was one of the first women to excel in that profession, having helped introduce personal computing technology to many of the top institutio­ns in the Texas Medical Center.

Maxine was a founding member of Congregati­on Emanu El in Houston and among its first confirmand­s. She remained very active in the congregati­on throughout her life, most recently working with her sisters to archive the Congregati­on’s historical records.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents,

Max and Lillie Frosch, her husband, Harold Reingold, and her sister, Dede Mayer. She is survived by her sister, Rikki (Bo) Rubenstein; her children, Steven (Claudia) Reingold, Sharon (Bradley) Rauch, and Beth Reingold (Tom Willett); her grandchild­ren Jonathan, Jeremy, Haley, Adam, Daniel, Ellie, and Halia; and her great-grandchild­ren, Madden, Taylor, and Ethan.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Congregati­on Emanu El, Proler Chapel, 1500 Sunset Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Congregati­on Emanu El or the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
