Barbara Touchtone Zumwalt, 80, passed away July 4, 2023, at her home in Spring, Texas.

Barbara was born January 24, 1943, in Houston, Texas.

She was the daughter of William Glen and Gladys Katherine Touchtone. Barbara graduated from Milby High School in 1960. She then attended Sam Houston State University and later graduated from the University of Houston. Barbara married John Zumwalt on January 25,1964, in Houston.

Barbara was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She later became the Christian Education Director at First United Methodist Church in downtown Houston. Barbara then worked as an elementary school teacher in the Houston Independen­t School District for 20 years.

After retirement, Barbara enjoyed traveling. She particular­ly liked road trips to Colorado and to Red River, New Mexico. She and John explored the world on numerous cruises.

Barbara relaxed by watching television, with her favorites being Astros baseball games and Jeopardy. Barbara also enjoyed cooking for her family, especially on holidays and for family gatherings. She loved reading all of the books she ordered on Amazon.

Barbara is survived by John, her husband of 59 years, and children Heather Smith of Weatherfor­d, Texas, and Heather’s husband,

Brian Smith; Holly Taylor of Pflugervil­le, Texas, and Holly’s husband, Paul Taylor; Robin Zumwalt of Spring, Texas; and Kyle Zumwalt of Houston, Texas, and Kyle’s wife, Paula Zumwalt. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren, Victoria Taylor of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Evan Taylor of Gainesvill­e, Florida; and Samantha Zumwalt of Houston, Texas. Barbara is also survived by numerous cousins.
