BERNARD JOSEPH TOOMEY

Bernard Joseph Toomey passed away and entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at the age of 64 in Kingwood, Texas.

Bernard was born on March 26, 1959, in Houston, Texas to John J. Toomey and Michelene Guseman Toomey. He grew up in Houston alongside his four brothers and amazing parents. There was never a shortage of stories from their childhood as one could imagine in a house with five brothers. Bernard attended St. Thomas High school and went on to attend college at Schreiner University. In 1979 he began working in the family business at Tejas Toyota in Humble, Texas where he became the dealer principal and would spend the following 44 years up until his passing. He genuinely loved what he did and considered those at Tejas Toyota as dear friends and family.

Bernard resided in Kingwood, Texas where he had met and married his former wife and the mother of his children, Terri, and raised his three beautiful children, Cameron, Caitlin, and Cody. To know him was to know his love for his family and being an amazing father to his children. He loved to travel

more than anything. Whether it was trips to Spain and Turkey with Terri, Japan and Africa with his brothers and parents, and frequent trips to Mexico with his children and close friends. Bernard was an avid hunter, both birds and other animals. He enjoyed hunting in South Texas, Tanzania, and had many fond memories hunting in Mexico with his father, brothers, and family friend Father Richard Houlahan. He had a passion for cycling, scuba diving, and anything by the ocean.

Bernard was preceded in death by his mother, Michelene Toomey, his two brothers, John Toomey and Stephen Toomey, and his nephew, Stuart Toomey.

He is survived by his father, John Toomey; his children’s mother and dear friend,

Terri Wendt; his son, Cameron Toomey, and wife Alex Toomey; his daughter, Caitlin Blalock, and husband Robert Blalock. and their daughter Kyle Elaine; his son, Cody Toomey; his brother, Tanny Toomey, and wife Susan and their son Charles Toomey and wife Lindsi Toomey and their son Trip; his brother, Richard Toomey, and wife Claudia Toomey; his niece, Emily Toomey; his sister-inlaw, Becky Toomey; and Julie Bynum.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from five until eight o’clock in the evening for a visitation with a Rosary commencing at half past six o’clock at the Bradshaw- Carter Funeral Home, 1734 West Alabama Street, Houston, Texas. The funeral mass will be held the following day, Monday, October 9, 2023, at half past nine o’clock in the morning at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3617 Milam Street, Houston, Texas with Father Juan Torres, O.P. officiating.
