Mary Ann (Siegel) Pete was born in suburban Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia and grew up moving around the East Coast. In 1954, her family moved to Detroit, Michigan where she graduated from Grosse Pointe High School. She later graduated from Michigan State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority, and where she met and married the love of her life, Larry Pete in 1957. After college, Mary Ann and Larry moved to Fort Lee, Virginia where Larry was a Lieutenant in the Army and Mary Ann taught elementary school. In 1962, they moved to Lincolnshi­re, Illinois where they spent their children’s earliest years. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1971 where they met many people that became life-long friends to Mary Ann to this day. Mary Ann was an active member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston.

Her passions included traveling the world with her family and friends, fine arts and theater, desserts and French cuisine and being a Yia Yia to her four grandchild­ren. She was an avid reader, seamstress, trip planner, excellent cook and luncheon hostess. Mary Ann approached life with optimism and light.

All who had the pleasure of knowing her would describe her as gracious, elegant, loving and kind, always with a ready smile.

Mary Ann is predecease­d by her husband, Larry Pete; and her parents, Mary and Harold Siegel Sr. She is survived by her son, Jeff and Michele

Pete; her daughter, Julie and Marty Jimmerson; grandchild­ren, Lauren Jimmerson, Landon Pete, Trey Jimmerson, and Hannah Pete; her sister, Barbara Rankin; her brother, Harold and Carla Siegel; and many loving relatives and friends.

The celebratio­n of Mary Ann’s life will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 2 PM at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079) in the Sanctuary with reception to follow in Wesley Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church.
