B. Scott Aitken passed away on Friday, the 21st of September 2023, in Williamsburg, Virginia. He was 54 years of age. A long-time resident of Houston, Scott was visiting Williamsburg after accompanying his sons, Alex and Jack, to college at William & Mary.

Born into a family of intellects, Scott’s insatiable thirst for learning was evident from an early age. He attended Stanford University for his undergraduate studies and later earned his JD from the University of Michigan Law School. Scott specialized in corporate law and devoted over 25 years to his craft. The bulk of his professional career was spent at US Oncology, now known as McKesson, where he was highly valued for both his legal expertise and ethical standards. And throughout his career -whether in law firms or as inhouse counsel -- Scott was the “go-to” person for exceptionally complex legal issues.

In his personal life, Scott was a doting father to his two sons, Alex (19) and Jack (18), and his stepson, Noah (25).

Renowned for his intellectual prowess, Scott was often described by those who knew him as “the smartest person I know.” He had an enduring love for reading, debating, board games, trivia, and crossword puzzles. His quick wit and dry sense of humor were almost always appreciated, enriching the lives of everyone around him.

A man of varied interests, Scott relished the opportunity to explore new places. Whenever he traveled, he made it a point to walk for hours, soaking in the local culture and ambiance of cities worldwide. His travels were more than mere vacations; they were educational journeys for he and his family. He took every opportunity to broaden the knowledge and mindset of those around him.

Scott leaves behind a loving family, including his sons, Alex and Jack; his stepson, Noah; his sister, Wendy; brothers, Bill and Kevin; brother-in-law, Geoff; sisterin-law, Charity; his mother, Gerrie; and his nieces, Ellie, Abbie, Lucy, and Hope.

A memorial service to celebrate Scott’s life is to be held at four o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 14th of October, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in his name be directed to charities focused on alcohol awareness.

Please visit Mr. Aitken’s online memorial tribute at GeoHLewis.com where fond memories and words of comfort and condolence may be shared electronically with his family.

Scott Aitken’s legacy is one of intelligence, kindness, and boundless curiosity. He will be remembered not just for the life he led, but also for the lives he touched, offering a lasting inspiration for all who had the privilege to know him.
