Doris Laird Henley, loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023. She was born in Houston, TX on July 30, 1928 to Ben S. Laird & Radie Moye Laird.

Doris graduated in 1945 from Jefferson Davis High School, where she was elected school favorite. She married her loving husband,

Billy Henley on October 26, 1946. They were married for almost 72 wonderful years of marriage before his death in September 2018.

Doris loved her family, watching sports, reading, and decorating her home.

She was frequently on the sidelines cheering for her grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children. She worked for many oil companies, including Superior Oil Company, for many years as a secretary. She remained active and healthy her entire life.

She was a member of Chapelwood Methodist Church, The Alexander Love Chapter of the DAR, and the Junior League Tea Room, and a charter member of the Houston Profession­al Landmen’s Auxiliary.

Doris is predecease­d by her parents, her husband, Billy Henley, her two sisters, five brothers, two nephews and a niece. She is survived by her wonderful daughter, Cindy Brown, and husband, Harvey Brown, three grandchild­ren (Joshua and wife, Jennifer Brown, Caroline Brown & Emily Brown), four precious great grandchild­ren (Caleb,

Grace, Hope & Luke Brown). She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Jean Boyd & Lavonne Collins as well as many special nieces and nephews and spouses whom she loved dearly.
