BARBARA MOTT

02/23/1935 - 09/13/2023

-

Barbara Lee Mott was born to Kathryn and Lloyd Steffy in Moline, Illinois on February 23, 1935. She passed away peacefully with family at her side on September 13, 2023. She spent her formative years in Phoenix, Arizona and attended Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles studying design. That is where she met John G. (Jack) Mott and they married in 1954. They relocated to Texas, and along with her parents, purchased Interior Trends in Houston. A few years later they completed their family with two daughters, Steffy and Vicki.

A creative soul with an eye for beauty, she was a perfectionist, a hard worker and loved to entertain. She enjoyed family, close friends and traveling at home and abroad. With friends, Barbara and Jack could eat their way through France as well as Louisiana.

Life dealt her many challenges and she met each one with grace and courage. When she and Jack separated in the 1990’s she began a totally new career in massage therapy. It was her calling. She served many wonderful clients and made lasting friendships through her practice.

As a member of Bethany Christian Church she served the church through Board service, as a Deacon, office volunteer, and created beauty for Fellowship gatherings and fun props for Vacation Bible School year after year.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her brother William (Bill) Steffy and is survived by her daughters Steffy Clingan (Scott), Vicki Stone (Billy), grandchildren Evan Hubbard (James), Ryan Clingan (Ashley), William, Jack, and Lainie Stone, her great grandson Levi Clingan, nieces Lee Steffy, Tracy Steffy and sister-in-law Betty Moody.

The family has deep gratitude for an incredible team of caring individuals that carried us through mom’s last months, Claudia Aribra, Cynthia and Grant Davis, Betty Mosely, Lilian Njoku, Rhonda Sylvester, Christine White and her hospice nurse Krissy Muskarella.

The family will have a private celebration of life. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to The Christian Community Service Center, 3434 Branard St., Houston, TX 77027 or the charity of your choice.
