The family of Virginia

Dawn Leath Coccaro regrets to announce that she died on September 22nd, 2023, at her home in Houston, Texas.

Ginger, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Cameron, Texas on January 20, 1926 to Amelia Dudley Leath and George Thomas Leath. She graduated from C. H. Yoe High School in Cameron and later from Durham Business College, which prepared her for a successful and rewarding career in healthcare. She enjoyed her work in the medical field and was active in healthcare community service, as exemplified by her participation in the earliest distribution of the Jonas Salk polio vaccine in the greater Houston area public schools.

Ginger had an elegant sense of style and was intelligent, witty, gracious, and impeccably well-mannered, traits which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. A fiercely independent woman, she was very proud of her children’s educational and career accomplishments. Ginger was happily married to Anthony Michael Coccaro, whose cheerful and outgoing nature matched her own. Their marriage was full of fun and hospitality.

Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, “Tony” Coccaro, her parents Amelia and George Leath, her sisters Kathryn Belman and Christine Wilson, her brothers James Leath and George Leath, and her son Rokki Ford Roberts. She is survived by her daughter Faith Roberts Kellar of Houston, her son Frank Isaac and daughter-in-law Alice Ann Isaac of Union, WA, her daughter-in-law Kathy Hager Roberts of Houston, her granddaughter Gay Nord and husband Stan, of Houston, her grandson Drew Kellar and wife Heather, and her great granddaughters Olivia and Amelia Kellar of New Braunfels, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held in the coming weeks in Ginger’s hometown, Cameron, Texas. Details for friends and family will be announced soon.
