Evelyn Riddle McCurry died peacefully in her sleep on November 17, 2023, in Conroe, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of William Winfred Riddle and Margaret LeBlanc Riddle of Texas

City and the wife of the late Robert “Bob” Cloyes McCurry. She is survived by her son Jared David Tees (Beth), granddaughters Olivia, Asli, and Margaret Mary, brother Don Riddle (Pat), sister

Mary Wells, many nieces and nephews, and cherished dogs Mia and Mason. She was preceded in death by her son, Seth Michael McCurry, and grandson, Hunter Hyatt Tees.

Evelyn graduated from Dickinson High School and entered the workforce, where she met her lifelong best friend, Margie Straight, whom she treasured like another sister. Later, Evelyn met Bob, and they married in 1977. Evelyn loved the beach, and having owned beach houses in Galveston for many years, they relocated to the island and purchased and maintained a home in the historic district. They were also proud Galveston Island business owners operating two local stores for over two decades, making friends with many of their loyal customers. After retiring, they moved to Conroe, where Evelyn helped care for her mother until her passing. She enjoyed decorating for every holiday and was an avid cook, always trying new recipes, but Evelyn truly loved to dine out, patronizing every restaurant she could. She also adored each one of the many pets she raised over her lifetime. Evelyn will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a small memorial gathering at Peebles Cemetery, 4003 Highway 190 W., Livingston, TX, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, King’s Day, an appropriate choice considering Evelyn’s great love of Carnival. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in Mardi Gras style. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating to your local SPCA or a favorite charity, as Evelyn was fond of many community organizations.
