Frederick “Fred” Paul Schweers, Jr., aged 78, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 9,

2024. Born to the late Helen and Frederick Schweers, Sr. on June 7, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Fred’s life was one rich in love and joy, as evidenced by his 34-year union with his late wife, Phyllis Schweers, who predecease­d him in November 2019. Together, they cultivated a home filled with laughter and warmth.

He leaves behind his daughter, Katherine Casey, and her husband Chance; step-sons Derrick Adams and his wife Suzanne, Christophe­r Adams and his wife Erica, and Allen Bedford and his wife Jodi; sisters Carolyn Pitcock and Gayle Phillipe; and brother-in-law Jeff Phillipe. His grandchild­ren, Connor and Cayden Casey; Bella and Abbie Adams, Penny Adams; and Ronnie Bedford, will forever treasure their grandfathe­r’s memory. Fred also held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews.

Fred served with distinctio­n in the US Army from February 1968 to December 1969.

Fred loved spending days with his family; leading them on garden tours and taking daily drives for as long as he was able. Traveling with Phyllis, particular­ly to state capitals throughout the US, brought him immense joy.

The family invites those who wish to pay their respects to attend the funeral services at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX, on March 1, 2024, at 12:30 pm. A memorial will follow at Northgate Country Club at 1:30 pm.

In rememberin­g Fred, we recall an incredible, gentle soul who lived his life with honor, love, and a deep-seated sense of duty to family and country.
