10 Houston bars elevate Super Bowl-watching experience

The biggest day of the year for football fans looms large, and if you want to avoid the mess of hosting, Houston has plenty of sports bars to meet your Super Bowl Sunday celebrator­y needs.

Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m., with the San Francisco 49ers taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. No matter who you’re rooting for — or if you’re simply venturing out for the halftime show, camaraderi­e or potential Taylor Swift sightings — here are 10 bars with festive environs that will air the big game.

Kirby Ice House

Kirby Ice House claims to be the biggest bar in Texas with more than 50 TVs, including jumbotrons. It’s pet-friendly and has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. On the menu, you’ll find more than 50 beers on tap and food trucks on-site. Draft cocktails are $7 all day Sunday and Jameson and Fireball are $4 from 7 p.m. to close.

McIntyre’s

In downtown and the Heights, McIntyre’s is a hot spot for sports, with over 50 TVs, including a massive screen. It has a full-service bar with more than 50 beers and specialty cocktails. It also has dog-friendly patios.

Christian’s Tailgate

Christian’s Tailgate isn’t missing a beat with all things sports. Find classic game day food on the menu, including burgers, hot dogs and fries. It will also sell $2 mimosas, $5 bloody marys, $5 shots and $20 beer buckets.

Tom’s Watch Bar

Newer sports bar Tom’s Watch Bar is having its first Super Bowl watch party this weekend. It has 75 screens showing the game and can seat 300. For the Super Bowl, it will have free shots, official NFL swag, NFL trivia and $5 food and drinks after the game.

Pitch 25 Beer Park

In EaDo, Pitch 25 bleeds soccer, but this weekend will be having a Super Bowl watch party. It has more than 55 TVs, including two massive screens to show games with sound on. There is no cover to enter. It’s a large venue with indoor and outdoor seating, but expect crowds. There are also various games available to play, including pool soccer.

Biggio’s Sports Bar

Inside the Marriott Marquis, Biggio’s Sports Bar is both sports bar and restaurant. Named for former Astros player Craig Biggio, this spot has more than 30 screens, 20 beers on tap and classic bar food.

A classic spot for backyard patio vibes, Little Woodrow’s has plenty of TV screens to enjoy the game and more than 50 beers.

It’s a party at Patterson Park on game days. It has 40 TVs, food trucks and drink specials for the big game. It is also dog-friendly.

Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux

Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux was created by Louisiana State University basketball players Brandon Landry and Jack Warner with co-owner NFL star Drew Brees. It has numerous TV screens and food with a Louisiana flair.
